The Executive Committee of the Massachusetts Abolition Society asks the abolitionists of Massachusetts to make pledges. On the first page, Daniel Mann (Treasurer), A. A. Phelps (Chairman), and E.G. Leach (Secretary) give, on behalf of the Executive Committee, the history of the Society’s nine-thousand-dollar debt as well as its financial situation, and asks for contribution. On the second page, an address by the Executive Committee makes an appeal for funds, expounding on the aim of the Society (“to carry forward the anti-slavery cause, unencumbered by foreign questions and unswerved by mistaken friendship or open opposition, to other ends”) and its history.
