Letter from Alfred Harry Love, Philade[elphi]a, [Pa.], to William Lloyd Garrison, [March] 10. 1864
Description:
Alfred Love reports that he has received Garrison's letters concerning the proposed visit of George Thompson to Philadelphia. Love states that he has consulted with Lucretia Mott, Edward M. Davis, Abraham Parker, and James Miller M'Kim, and that they "all unite in the suggestion made by thee to have him invited to the Union League". Love states that they agree with Garrison's suggestion that the invitation be made by prominent citizens outside of the abolitionist circle in Philadelphia. Love states that Garrison's remarks in "reference to the re-nomination of Abraham Lincoln" are "directly to the point", and meet his "hearty approval".
