Letter from Amos Augustus Phelps, Boston, to James Gillespie Birney, Nov. 13. 1839
Description:
After criticizing [the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society] for waging a war against [the Massachusetts Abolition Society] and not cooperating with [the American Anti-Slavery Society], Amos A. Phelps tells James Gillespie Birney that Birney “must not fail” to visit Massachusetts in December to attend the large meeting the [Boston Female Anti-Slavery Society] is organizing for Birney and to use that opportunity to advertise their fair to the public. Phelps says it is important that the fair goes off well.
