Joseph Cowen informs William Henry Ashurst that he has developed an illness affecting his eye, and will be compelled to rest for several days in order to recover. Cowen states that it is with regret that he must announce that he will thusly be unable to meet with William Lloyd Garrison at Ashurst's house.
