Letter from Joseph Lupton, Leeds, [England], to William Lloyd Garrison, July 20 / [18]67
Description:
Joseph Lupton writes William Lloyd Garrison that he had hoped to see Garrison in Paris or London, but states his regrets that he was unable to do so owing to Garrison's having departed Paris just prior to Lupton's arrival, and Lupton's previous obligations in London. Lupton regrets that he was unable to join his countrymen in welcoming Garrison back to England, and offers his congratulations to Garrison "on the glorious success" of his long labors. Lupton inquires when Garrison will be returning to the south of Great Britain, and invites Garrison to pass a night in Leeds and attend an anti-slavery meeting with him.
