Description:
Salmon P. Chase writes James Miller M'Kim informing him that M'Kim's last letter was received, and that he had read the enclosed article with much interest. Chase encloses to M'Kim a check for the sum of $100 towards the "liquidate of the obligations" mentioned by M'Kim in his previous missive. Chase asserts his wish that the term "freedman" be "discontinued altogether" in preference for the term "citizen".
