Letter from Edward Lillie Pierce, Boston, [Mass.], to William Lloyd Garrison, 14 Oct[ober 18]76
Description:
Edward Lillie Pierce writes William Lloyd Garrison requesting his assistance in clarifying "one or two points" in the life of Charles Sumner. Pierce inquires the date of Sumner's subscription to "The Liberator", and inquires if Sumner's subscription precedes that of Wendall Phillips. Pierce states that he has heard several speak of a lecture delivered by Sumner before the "colored people of Boston at an early date", but states he can find no confirmation of either date, location, or object of the address. Pierce states his obligation to Garrison for any aid the latter might provide.
