Letter from Parker Pillsbury, Concord, [N.H.], to William Lloyd Garrison, 15th Feb[ruary] 1845
Description:
Parker Pillsbury informs William Lloyd Garrison that the "Herald of Freedom" went to the press prior to the arrival of Garrison's edited version of his letter sent for publication, and that the issue includes Garrison's communication "as in the original". Pillsbury urgers Garrison to not feel regretful over the "choice of language", arguing that it was warranted in its severity. Pillsbury opines that they cannot possibly please Nathaniel Peabody Rogers, and that the abolitionist cause will have no reason to regret the "separation" of Rogers and John R. French from its ranks. Pillsbury asserts his belief that the new "Herald" will not succeed, and states his contentment that Garrison will "dissect that Circular & Prospectus" in the pages of the Liberator. Pillsbury informs Garrison of the outcome of the New Hampshire State Democratic Convention.
