Letter from Robert Purvis, Washington, D.C., to William Lloyd Garrison, Nov[ember] 18th 1878
Description:
Robert Purvis writes William Lloyd Garrison expressing his thanks for Garrison's gift of a photograph of George Thompson, and relates that gazing upon it kindles his memory to the "early days of our Anti-Slavery warfare". Purvis relates to Garrison his evening spent with Lucretia Mott in which they read aloud letters from Thompson and Garrison. Purvis states with sadness how their circle "narrows", and states that soon, none of the "Old Guard" of their cause will remain.
