Henry Cowles informs Amos A. Phelps of the course of classical study at Oberlin College. He also discusses Hiram Wilson's effort for educating the black people in Canada, praising Wilson's dedication but expressing doubts regarding his ability to properly carry out such a project. Finally, he discusses the steps being taken by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions, “which will suddenly give development to an Anti-Slavery missionary organization.”
