Holograph, signed.
Samuel Joseph May is "rejoiced to see that old Massachusetts is not quite asleep on the subject of Texas." He offers Maria Weston Chapman a copy of "a report of the speech I made last Jan'y at the Anti-Texas Convention." He gave a copy of this report to the [Anti-Slavery?] Reporter for publication, but it was suppressed. Maria W. Chapman may publish it in the Liberty Bell or elsewhere. [The Liberty Bell for 1846 contains the "Extract from a speech at the Anti-Texan meeting in Faneuil Hall, 1845," by Samuel Joseph May, p. 73-76.]
