Mary Carpenter requested that "one of her drawings (if any remained from the Fair) might be given to F. Douglass." Samuel May, Jr., suggests that Anne Warren Weston select "a handsome one" from those remaining after the fair, and leave it with Samuel May's mother. Samuel May will take the drawing to Rochester, provided he goes on a tour to Niagara. He supposes that Mr. and Mrs. Eddy have arrived in Boston. He tells of a visit and entertainment at William Ingersoll Bowditch's "Grove" in Brookline. May comments: "There were some young ladies of a darker hue very pretty & who deported themselves with great propriety."
