Chace received from Oliver Johnson a copy of a letter "put into J. S. Gibbons hands by J. G. Birney from England," which "purports to seek the truth in relation to the differences between old & new organization." Johnson suspects a plan "to destroy the character of the old society thro' Mr. Collins."
