In this letter, Samuel May, Jr., mentions a meeting of the Old Colony Anti-Slavery Society at North Bridgewater. Mrs. Margaret Sansom of Edinburgh left 80 to 100 pounds in her will to the American Anti-Slavery Society, with the stipulation that the money not be used to purchase the freedom of a slave. John G. Palfrey told Wendell Phillips "that he thought he had, in his "Review," completely served Mr. Webster up!"
