Jerusha L. Bird regrets that so little help (for the Boston anti-slavery fair) can be found in Taunton. "The [female] Society has become extinct." Bird infers that those influenced by "new organization" are working privately, as Miss [Martha?] Ball's letters have been privately circulated. As "it is the opinion of all the old friends that a woman will do more than a man, on account of the political excitement," they have requested Mr. John A. Collins to send Abby Kelley to stay two or three weeks and lecture.
