Dates supplied by cataloger from material accompanying item and catalogue raisonné. Plates from this series originally created by Giovanni Battista Piranesi in 1764. His son Francesco and his daughter Laura both worked with him and, after his death, maintained the original plates. The item in the Boston Public Library’s Antonio Cardinal Tosti Collection were assembled and published in Paris in 1836.
