Dated February 9, 1656 (i.e. 1657) and signed and sealed by John and Margaret Burch. Witnessed by Thomas Modyford, Thomas Hothersall, John Sayers, and Thomas Gibbes (with his seal). Recorded on August 14th, 1663, and signed by Edward Bowden, Deputy Secretary of Barbados.

The transaction memorialized in this deed is described by William H. Sumner in his History of East Boston (Boston: Tilton & Co., 1858, p. 256).
"Know yee that wee the said John Burch and Margritt, for divers good causes and considerations ... but more especially for and in consideration of the some of thirteene hundred seaventy and eaight pounds current money of England ... doe by these presents give, graunt, bargaine, sell, release, confirme and enfeoffe Richard Leader and Richard Newbold ... of all that part of the land, or an island commonly called Noddles Island, lyinge and beinge in the Bay of the Massachusetts neare Boston in the territories of New England, together with the mansion house and mill, bake house, and all other the houses and out houses, barnes, stables, edifices and buildings, their on, in the condition they are now in, and together with all watter and watter courses, woods and under woods, timber and timber trees, rights, proffitts, priviledges, easments, commoditys, and advantages in any wise to the same ..."

This deed offered for sale by Goodspeed's in 1964 ("Two manuscript documents signed by Col. John Burch of Barbados, Mar. 5, 1652 [New Style 1653] and Feb. 1656 [New style 1657]. One quarto and one folio page. 2 pieces."). Later to Joseph Rubinfine. Purchased from Sotheby's, New York, in 2020.
