This manuscript is apparently a rough draft of a letter by Caroline Weston in reply to John Parker Hale's letter. [Caroline is perhaps responding to Hale's letter dated Sept. 11, 1846, see Call No. Ms.A.9.2 v.22, p.88A].
Caroline Weston expresses disappointment at the uncertainty of whether or not John P. Hale will visit her; she gives him travel directions. Caroline remarks that "if such men as C.F. Adams, [J.G.] Palfrey...& Judge Allen consent to [George N.] Briggs nomination it is very hard not to believe that American politics at least are corrupting..."
