Translation: “Villagers courting Belisarius. Belisarius was only two miles from his castle near to arriving in a village where a rumor already spread that he was to pass he was joined by a village family who came to meet him. The head of the family presenting Belisarius to his two daughters and his son, told them to fall at the feet of this hero, it was he who saved us from the ravages of the Huns. Without it the roof we inhabit would have been reduced to ashes, without him father would have been slain and your children placed into slavery. And you, my daughters, you would perhaps never dare look up: you owe him more than life.” Filed in the Office of Prints.
