Additional text on item: Dexter Pratt, immortalized by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow as the “village black smith" lived in this house at the intersection of Story and Brattle Streets, Cambridge. Mass. The two-story house, to which have been added quaint and harmonious ells, was built by Torrey Hancock about 1811 and became the home of Pratt in 1823.
