George Thompson tells of his arrival in Rochester two hours late, while an audience of 700 waited for him. Because of his late arrival and being "wearied and faint with my journey," Thompson agreed to lecture the next day instead. He was informed that there was a reaction to him here, but that he was not to be mobbed. The [Rochester] Advertiser "disclaimed any intention to incite to violence," but advised people to "stay away and let this ill-begotten apology for a man speak..."
Includes, accompanying envelope with the delivery address: "Messrs. Goodhue & Co., 64 South Street, New York City, N. Y." With a notation in the lower left corner: "For Miss A. W. Weston."
